Description
A small-seeded fava selected for good flavor, originally by Steve Solomon of Territorial Seed and later rescued by Alan Adesse in the Willamette Valley, OR. Makes excellent fava hummus or an addition to soups.
Favas like cool weather, so be sure to direct sow them in early spring, as early as March or April. They grow about 30″ tall. Like other legumes, they will fix nitrogen for your soil. Small seeded favas are often used as cover crops.
Harvest as fresh beans, fully formed but still green and soft, or as dry beans when fully mature and pods brown.
A. 1 oz packet (approx. 48 seeds) $3.50
B. 4 oz $9.00–not available
