Description

A Kabocha/Hokaido type. A delicious, beautiful squash. Sweet and nutty, with dry flaky texture. The flesh is thick, orange and dense, without fibers. The skin is slate blue, slightly ribbed and smooth.  2-4 lbs/fruit. High yielding, stores well.  100 days   Cucurbita maxima

This variety was developed by Bill Reynolds working in dry farmed conditions in northern CA. It was variety trialed by the Dry Farming Collaborative in 2016 – 2018, and yielded an average of 23 lbs per plant, with an average planting density of 34 sqft per plant, on 7 sites in western OR.

A great variety for our Montana climate! Our seed was grown by Antje and Doug Baty at Wild Plum Farm in Dixon MT.
