Doug & Antje Baty
Dixon, Montana
Wild Plum Farm is a family farm, with over 40 years of experience raising organic vegetables and seed in Montana. Antje and Doug Baty began farming in 1981 and started growing seed commercially in 1983, after saving their own seed for years.
Their favorite crop to grow for Triple Divide is black turtle beans, a variety with deep personal roots. Doug’s father brought the beans back from the Michoacán region of Mexico, and they’ve been a family staple ever since.
Life at Wild Plum Farm is an extended family affair: children and grandchildren live, play, and work alongside them. For Antje and Doug, farming isn’t just a business, it’s their life. They grow seed for the chance to witness a plant’s full lifecycle, to learn something new each season, and to grow more intimate with each crop they tend.
