This is a reliable, sweet round dark red beet which has stood the test of time in the Flathead Valley. An excellent keeper and good looker. When given enough space and time they can grow very large and yet remain tender. This variety originated in Switzerland – thus the name, which literally translates to Fire Sphere. This particular seed strain has been grown over the years through the root to seed method by Wild Plum Farm. The root to seed method allows the farm to harvest the roots the first year, select for root qualities such as size, color, disease resistance, and store the roots until the next spring, which leads to improved storability traits.
