Brilliant red stems with dark green, crinkly red-veined leaves. Both the leaves and stalks are delicious when mature, and the plants also make an attractive ornamental for beds and border plantings. Ruby-red is also a good choice for microgreens and baby leaves, adding a true red color to a salad mix since the stem and leaf veins color early. These greens are valued for their mild flavor and high nutritional value. Note: young plants may bolt if exposed to cold temperatures; time sowing to avoid frost on seedlings.
